XOD Captain's Cup at North Sails Cowes Week 2026 - Day 4

With a flood tide and a gusty westerly, the X boats had a classic beat against the tide from Royal Yacht Squadron line followed by a proper 3 hour navigational race. Sadly there were some OCS boats, and once again your correspondent was "start mining", whilst Astralita also got tangled up in the dirty air.
On a day when we raised a glass to X Class legend Peter Baines and raced around the marks named after Basher's great mates Simon "Fumesy" Russell and Ben Wood, and it was rather apt that Fumsey's team in Swallow dominated the start and disappeared down the race track.
Series leaders Lone Star kept Swallow company to extend their lead and keep hold of the North Sails leaders spinnaker. Also going really well was Kathleen. We watched as Astralita smoothly worked her way through the fleet to catch up to 6th.
