Coppet Week 2026 at Saundersfoot Sailing Club turned into a classic tale of two halves. The 42-strong dinghy fleet faced a slow, frustrating start to the annual race week as a stubborn high-pressure system brought blazing sunshine but zero wind, forcing cancellations and keeping the boats ashore early in the week.

However, patience paid off as the breeze finally filled in for the latter half, with the race team dealing with some major wind shifts and an impressive thunderstorm which went all round the race course, finally delivering some great racing across three races and a great pursuit race.

The Pursuit race gave us a brilliant showcase for local sailors; Osprey 1380 (sailed by Dan Jackson and Matt Goldwait) hunted down the fleet to take the win, closely followed by Osprey 1365 in second, with GP14 4048 in third place sailed by Neil Davies and Michelle Evans.

Chris Martin and Cillian Dyne sailed excellently all week in their Merlin Rocket to secure the top slot, with several local Tenby boats dominating the remaining podium spots.

A huge thank you goes out to the race officers, safety crews, and volunteers who adapted beautifully to the tricky weather window to make the second half of the week an absolute triumph.

The Final Leaderboard:

1. Chris Martin and Cillian Dyne - Merlin Rocket 3787 (Bartley Green Sailing Club)
2. Robin Wood - Europe 444 (Tenby Sailing Club)
3. Dave Griffiths and Maurice Clarke - Osprey 1365 (Saundersfoot Sailing Club)
