Canada Ocean Racing is inviting members of the public to step aboard EMIRA IV, the team's IMOCA 60 offshore racing boat, during a series of free open days in Collingwood, Ontario, on 13 and 20 June.

The 20-minute guided tours will give visitors the opportunity to explore one of the world's most technologically advanced offshore race boats, meet members of the team, and gain insight into the realities of racing solo and short-handed across the world's oceans.

The open days form part of the team's first summer training programme in Canada. Skipper Scott Shawyer and the team are preparing for future IMOCA campaigns, including this year's Route du Rhum and the 20208 Vendée Globe, and hope to continue building support for offshore racing in Canada.

Tour details:

  • Dates: 13 June and 20 June 2026
  • Location: Collingwood, Ontario
  • Duration: 20 minutes per tour
  • Cost: Free (advance booking required)

Booking information is available at: www.canadaoceanracing.com/events

"Bringing EMIRA IV home to Canada feels special because this is where it started. I learned to sail on Georgian Bay as a kid, and now I'm coming back with one of the fastest offshore racing boats in the world to keep learning again.

"Most Canadians have never seen a boat like this before. I hope that people will come down to the waterfront, bring their kids, ask questions, and follow the story as it unfolds." Scott Shawyer, skipper and president, Canada Ocean Racing.

We would be grateful if you could share the opportunity with your audience. If you would like additional information, images, or an interview with Scott Shawyer, please get in touch.
