Fifty-eight yachts sailed the Swiftsure International Yacht Race last weekend, hosted by the Royal Victoria Yacht Club. The seventeen J/Boats entries comprised 30% of the 58-boat fleet!

In what was a "first" for this race, all of the J/Teams participated in the Cape Flattery Race. That course goes from the Clover Point start, leaves the mark at Neah Bay to port, and crosses the finish line across Victoria Harbor for a total of 101.9 nautical miles.

ORC Overall
Taking the bronze medal against a fleet of Pacific Northwest offshore heavyweights was Jim Prentice's J/109 DIVA.

ORC 3 Division- J/Sweep!
It was an unprecedented sweep of the podium by J/Boats teams in this thirteen-boat fleet. In addition to taking third overall, Prentice's J/109 DIVA took division honors with a strong performance, winning by 33 minutes on ORC handicap corrected time. Taking the silver medal was John Polglasse's J/109 DOUBLE TIME, while Alex Smyth's J/111 65 RED ROSES II took the bronze medal to round out the podium. Sixth place went to Steve Kirsch's J/111 FLASH.

ORC 4 Division
Winning this ten-boat fleet was Chad Stanwick's classic J/35 THE BOSS, winning by nearly 45 minutes on ORC handicap corrected time!

PHRF Overall- J/105 Sweep!
In the fourteen-boat fleet, J/105 teams swept the top four spots! Winning was John Aitchison's MOOSE UNKNOWN, second was Chris Phoenix's JADED, third was Mike Cain's PANIC, and fourth was Nicholas Wilkerson's MAZU.

PHRF 1 Division
In this five-boat fleet, Mike Brown's J/120 CHARLIE took the silver medal as a reward for its hard-fought efforts.

PHRF 2 Division
Not surprisingly, this all J/105 one-design division saw a few remarkable performances. After the top four boats in PHRF Overall- MOOSE UNKNOWN, JADED, PANIC, and MAZU- it was Stephen Summers's PUFF that took fifth place in the J/105 division.
