Excess Catamarans, a Beneteau Group brand known for its cruising catamarans that combine the thrill of sailing with onboard comfort, announces the launch of the Riders' Edition: a special edition that transforms the catamaran into a base camp for riders and outdoor explorers.

Available on the Excess 11 and Excess 14, the Riders' Edition marks a strategic milestone for Excess: it targets nature lovers who practice outdoor disciplines, wingfoil, trail running, mountain biking, packrafting, and use their catamaran as a launching point for their adventures.

A new way to look at the catamaran

The Riders' Edition reflects an evolution in how people sail. The catamaran is no longer seen solely as a cruising or comfort platform, but as a base capable of connecting different activity environments.

By providing access to remote and hard-to-reach areas, it becomes a base camp, enabling a seamless blend of nautical and land-based activities.

This approach mirrors a deeper trend: the rise of a more active, more experiential, and more hybrid approach to boating.

A pack designed for real use: Offered as a limited edition, the Riders' Edition Pack equips the Excess 11 and Excess 14 with a cohesive set of outdoor gear.

Sailing:

  • High-performance DCX gray sails
  • Pulse Line rigging
  • Custom "Riders' Edition" lazy bag
  • Hull graphics by Peïo
  • Black wheels
  • Garmin Quatix 8 watch

Post-effort comfort:

  • Sunbrella interior and exterior upholstery
  • 727 Sailbags cushion kit
  • 727 Sailbags large modular bean bag

Autonomy:

  • Integrated water purification system
  • Electric inflator

An exclusive visual identity by Peïo

The Riders' Edition stands out with an exclusive hull design created by artist Peïo, a multidisciplinary artist, surfer, and rider.

His artwork draws inspiration from the movement of water and the trajectories inherent to board sports. Executed in a fluid, organic style, it visually captures the project's DNA: movement, energy, and connection to the elements.

"This line is a rider's path. The energy of movement. I wanted it to be out in the middle of the ocean, where it truly comes alive," says Peïo.

This signature will be prominently displayed on the hulls of the Excess 11 Riders' Edition and Excess 14 Riders' Edition.

"We're not changing course. We're broadening our horizon. Excess remains the brand for catamarans that deliver the thrill of sailing and on-board comfort. But we're adding a new dimension: your catamaran becomes your 'base camp.' This approach allows us to connect with both sailors AND riders, two audiences who share common values: the pursuit of thrills, a connection to the elements, and a desire to explore." Thibaut de Montvalon, Excess Brand Director
