Five boats for today, as many of our local Skippers were away Radio sailing. We also had Olly Junior to make his first venture into Vane sailing with his new Christmas present, not bad for a five year old eh!

Names were allotted to cards so that each could sail each other for at least one race up and down the lake and off onto the water with big sails.

Two points out and 3 back for the winner in a light South Easterly breeze, with all trying to hog the bank side of the lake. Fixed vane seemed to be the norm on the broad reach down and a mixed selection coming back up the lake, although broken vane favoured most as the wind was rather straighter at the top half of the pond.

Our race officer Peter Whiteside decided to forgo having on time lunch and decided to just get the job done for an early 2pm finish. Good shout as the wind started to fizzle out and the threatening light mist turned into a light drizzle.

Team Olly had hardly dropped a point for the day so took the title.

Our Harry, although relatively new to Vane sailing and still asking the odd question, did very well and is probably one to watch out for in the future.

Thanks to Peter for scoring and judging each race, along with Sharon and bye boat helper on the near bank.

Results:

1 Olly Murray and Bo (son) 16pts
2 Harry Balderson 12pts
3 Keith Wiseman 11pts
4 Tony Wilson 7pts
5 Alan Crawforth 4pts
