The second day of the 2025 EurILCA Team Racing European Championship, held in Athens, Greece, kicked off with challenging conditions that tested the sailors' patience and adaptability. Heavy rain and a complete lack of wind led to a delay on shore, with teams waiting for conditions to improve.

However, as the weather gradually cleared, the first group of sailors hit the water at 11:23 AM to begin the day's racing. Despite the ongoing light rain, the wind picked up to around 5 knots, allowing the event to get under way.

By the end of the day, 13 races had been completed in moderate winds ranging from 5 to 10 knots, with flat water conditions creating a strategic battleground for the competing teams.

However, the final races of the day were once again marked by heavy rain, adding another layer of difficulty to the already challenging conditions.

Day 2 race highlights

In total, 13 races were held, with wind speeds ranging from 5 to 10 knots. The sailors showed resilience and skill, making the most of the challenging conditions.

The leaders at the end of the day are Italy and Sweden 2, both teams maintaining perfect records with 6 wins out of 6 for Italy and 5 wins out of 5 for Sweden 2. Both teams have set a strong pace, showing consistency and tactical prowess in the varied conditions.

In third place, the local Greek team delivered a solid performance, finishing with 5 wins out of 6, showing their competitive edge despite challenging conditions. France and Sweden 1 tied for fourth, each securing 3 wins out of 5, while Bulgaria claimed sixth place with 3 wins out of 6.

Germany 1 found themselves in seventh, with Ireland and Lithuania tied for eighth, both teams earning 2 wins out of 6. At the lower end of the standings, Germany 2 and Serbia 2 managed just 1 win out of 5, while Serbia 1 unfortunately finished in last place, failing to secure any victories in the 6 races they participated in.

With such tight competition at the top, the championship is poised for an exciting conclusion. Teams will need to stay focused and adjust to the evolving conditions as they aim to improve their positions in the coming days.
