J/70 European Championship at the Royal Swedish Yacht Club - Day 1

The 2025 Apotea J/70 European Championship got under way Tuesday for 64 boats from 17 nations on the waters east of Sandhamn, Sweden.

Hosted by the Royal Swedish Yacht Club (KSSS), teams completed two races in light and shifty conditions.

Ralph Rosa's Mindset of Brazil compiled scores of 4,1 to take the early advantage with 5 points. James Murray's Callisto is only one point behind in second place, and Pierrik Devic's Fraser Yachts another notch behind in third.

Thirty-six teams are competing in the Corithian Division, led now by Luis Martin Cabiedes's Noticia (ESP). Topping the nine-boat One-Pro Division is Yann Inghilesi's Ciclone (ITA).

Murray's Callisto opened the Championship with a bullet, followed by Per Roman's Garm and Devic's Fraser Yachts. Rosa's Mindset led the fleet in race two, ahead of Richard Witzel's Rowdy and Kai-Uwe Hollweg's Diva.

Racing continues through Saturday with 10 total races planned. Nations on hand: AUS, BRA, DEN, ESP, FIN, FRA, GBR, GER, IRL, ITA, MON, NOR, POR, SUI, SWE, TUR, USA.
