Kaia Bint Savage wins YJA Young Journalist of the Year 2024 at Southampton International Boat Show

The Yachting Journalists' Association (YJA) is thrilled to announce that Kaia Bint Savage has been named the 2024 YJA Young Journalist of the Year.

The prestigious award, which recognises exceptional young talent in the field of yachting and marine journalism, was presented by YJA Chair Katy Stickland at the Southampton International Boat Show.

Kaia Bint Savage emerged as the clear winner, impressing the YJA members with her outstanding work as a member of the Maiden Factor team, and her dedication to marine journalism. Her contributions have set a high standard, and her unique voice continues to raise awareness in the industry.

Second place was a tie between Annie Means and Anne de Kerviller, both of whom demonstrated exceptional talent and commitment to the craft. Jack Gore secured third place, rounding out a group of highly deserving finalists.

Award Prizes:

  • Kaia Bint Savage, as the winner, has been awarded a £500 Henri-Lloyd voucher.
  • Annie Means and Anne de Kerviller, tied in second place, each receive a £250 Henri-Lloyd voucher.
  • Jack Gore will receive a year's subscription to Practical Boat Owner magazine and an Ocean Bottle from Box PR.
  • All four shortlisted entrants have received a free one year membership to the YJA.

Katy Stickland, Chair of the YJA, presented the award at the renowned Southampton International Boat Show, congratulating the winners and commending all the nominees for their excellent work. "The YJA Young Journalist of the Year award continues to showcase the next generation of talent, and it's inspiring to see such a bright future for marine journalism. Kaia, Annie, Anne, and Jack are proof that our industry is in very capable hands."

The YJA extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the nominees and finalists and thanks its members for their participation in the voting process. This year's competition highlights the importance of nurturing young journalists who will continue to bring innovation and insight to the marine world.
