2023 China Yunnan Youth Regatta on Fuxian Lake
A first for youth sailing in China
On the beautiful Fuxian Lake in Yunnan Province of China, the first Youth Regatta was held on the 2nd and 3rd of December with 71 participants from 5 cities in the region such as Kunming, Yuxi and Honghe and many more.
Perfect conditions
FD Future and OP boats are used for this regatta with 10 groups and a U shape race course. 30 participants are rewarded for their courage, dedication and sailing performance. During the regatta, Fuxian Lake enjoyed a comfortable 20 degree Celsius temperature with 8-12 knots of wind.
Fuxian Lake is located over 60 kilometres away from Kunming city with lake area of 212 km2, 3rd largest lake in Yunnan Province and the deepest depth is 155 meters.
Mr. Xinqiang Deng who is managing the Fuxian Lake Sailing Club commented:
"Fuxian Lake is the first lake to conduct sailing activities and this is the first youth regatta in Yunnan province. We are looking forward to the next year’s regatta with more participants and more boats. It is really satisfying to see the seeds of our hardwork and commitment in sailing are spreading and growing in the region.”
