Midlands sailing club Staunton Harold Sailing Club will be celebrating coming out of lockdown with the Bainbridge Staunton Blaster. Set over the Easter Sunday / Monday (4th and 5th April), Staunton Sailing Club members can look forward to a two day, five race extravaganza!

Racing will feature four handicap races and one pursuit with four races to count.

Welcome to sponsor Bainbridge International

This year we are pleased to announce that Bainbridge International will be sponsoring the event for the first time. In normal years the Staunton Blaster links with the Notts County Cooler and the Ogston Woolley Jumper. Sadly the three centre series has had to be cancelled for 2021, but it is still great to be going ahead with a Staunton members only - Bainbridge Staunton Blaster. Bainbridge International Ltd, is the world's oldest Sailcloth and Hardware manufacturer and distributor. The company has an an enviable reputation as a sailcloth and fabric specialist and also supplies a wide range of marine products.

Warm up

Whilst we've been unable to sail over the last couple of months, club members have been kept ship shape and race ready. Our regular Winter Wednesday Zoom sessions introduced in lockdown have featured race management, exercise and returning to sport, upwind strategy, racing rules and more. Paired with a Wednesday night handicap (31st March) and further racing/ cruising on 3rd April and an enthusiasm to get back out on the water, we're looking forward to some keen competition on the 4th/5th April. Recognising that some of our members, or their boats may not be quite ready for two full days of racing, we're welcoming members cruising on both days.

A big thank you for the support in 2020

2020 saw strange times with all of us sailing at our home clubs - when we could get on the water. Thank you to all our sailors who made it a joy to sail at home, whether it was cruising or taking part in members only fleet specific, or, club cup events, it was great to see such large numbers, on the water. Here's looking forward to the Bainbridge Staunton Blaster and the year ahead!
