Catch the Prada Cup action with Helicopter Me - be at the start two mins after stepping aboard

Many people would be more than happy with the view from the Helicopter Me heliport at Mechanics Bay.

With the Waitemata Harbour literally on the doorstep, the view stretches from Devonport and North Head all the way round to Orakei, with Rangitoto, Motuihe, Waiheke and Browns Islands in the backdrop. When Course C is being used, you can even see the AC75s going through their paces as they duel up and down the harbour.

When it comes to watching the 36th America’s Cup though, the team at Helicopter Me weren’t going to be satisfied with their view through the binoculars. In the hangar on their waterfront pad resides a fleet of sleek helicopters, and for the most unique and memorable spectator experience around – they take to the air to view the racing from above.

Whichever course is being used on the day; you can be looking down on the race start just a couple of minutes after walking out to the helicopter. Your pilot will do circuits of the course for the entire duration of the race. Race commentary through your headset throughout the helicopter ride will keep you up to date with insights from down on the water, but you have the best seats to see what is happening for yourself!

The modern Airbus Eurocopters operated by Helicopter Me are the ideal machines for the job, too. Large windows, executive spec interiors and noise cancelling BOSE headsets make them perfectly comfortable for the 30-45 minute duration of this ultimate Auckland helicopter experience.

The first customers for this experience were entertaining a couple of clients during the December series, and were so impressed with the spectacle – they rebooked to fly again with family and friends for the big event in March upon landing back at the heliport!

Whether for a corporate package, a day out with family or friends, or even a single seat on a shared trip – a helicopter ride above the incredible foiling AC75s in a luxury helicopter will be a sure way to leave a lasting impression.

When they aren’t flying above the racecourse, Helicopter Me specialise in getting people from A to B in style and comfort around Auckland and further afield. Taking a helicopter to Waiheke for lunch is one of their most popular options, as well as golf days, overnight stays, heli fishing charters and of course scenic flights.
