Royal Hong Kong YC announces partnership between RHKYC Team Agiplast and Clean Seas Campaign

Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club today announces that its challenger for the Youth America's Cup 2020/2021, RHKYC Team Agiplast, has partnered with the Clean Seas Campaign in the fight against marine plastic pollution.
The Clean Seas Campaign was launched in February 2017 by the United Nations Environment Programme, with the aim of engaging governments, the general public and the private sector in the fight against marine plastic pollution. Over five years, this campaign aims to address the root-cause of marine litter by targeting the production and consumption of single-use plastic.
The Club attaches great importance to the issue of combating marine plastic pollution and in 2016 took bold and decisive action when it became one of the first yacht clubs to ban single use plastic bottles, bags and straws from the Club. The Club's focus is very much on its future; be it nurturing its youth and the sailors of tomorrow or doing its part for the environment with its sustainability initiatives.
This forward thinking is what has attracted Agiplast to join hands with the Club as Title Sponsor for the Club's Youth America's Cup endeavour.
Agiplast regenerates plastics for a more sustainable world and has been doing so for over 25 years. Agiplast's main focus is to supply processing companies globally with sustainable plastic raw materials; essentially eliminating the need for virgin plastic materials.

Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club has made the commitment to the 'Partner Values of Clean Seas' through pledging to execute specific planned activities that demonstrate that the Club and RHKYC Team Agiplast will promote Clean Seas and its values, create education plans to highlight the problems of plastic pollution and inspire through example.
The Club's Rear Commodore Sailing and Vice Commodore Elect, Lucy Sutro, who also heads up the sustainability aspect of RHKYC Team Agiplast's campaign said, "The Club made its first pledge to Clean Seas in 2018 and we are delighted to take our partnership to the next stage with this new Partnership Pledge. Amongst our plans to step up our commitment in this area are incorporating plastic education into all of our sail training, achieving Clean Regattas certification for all of our regattas and discussing with all of our suppliers options for further reduction of single use plastic. The Club's challenge in the Youth America's Cup, RHKYC Team Agiplast, will be promoting the Clean Seas values as an integral part of its campaign."
