Family fun for everyone at MacGlide Festival of Sails 2020

The MacGlide Festival of Sails returns to Steampacket Gardens this summer with a smorgasboard of experiences for the whole family.
Away from the sailing action on the water, locals and tourists alike are encouraged to soak up the atmosphere along the Geelong waterfront with the Waterfront Festival, presented by Geelong Connected Communities, to bring Steampacket Gardens, Fairnie Park and Eastern Beach to life.
The MacGlide Festival of Sails will be held in Geelong from January 25 to 27, 2020.
Headlining the first day's entertainment from the Geelong Advertiser main stage on Steampacket Gardens' will be popular children's act The Mik Maks, along with 2011 Australia's Got Talent winner and 2019 Voice contestant Jack Vidgen.
Melbourne singer Jael Wena, 13, who represented Australia at the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Belarus, will also perform.
As many as 30 other acts, including many local artists, will perform during the festival from stages in both the Regatta Village in the Royal Geelong Yacht Club grounds and Steampacket Gardens, along the Geelong Waterfront. Entry is free for all entertainment.
Other highlights of the Steampacket Gardens entertainment include live music, roving performers and a multitude of stallholders offering fine food and wine as well as arts and crafts. The hugely popular water ski show is also back and set to be a hit off the shore from Steampacket Gardens.
Performances on Sunday, January 26 will include all-female soul band Sweethearts, along with the Royal Australian Navy Band.
For a unique experience on Monday, January 27, kids can get up close and personal with the dinosaurs at the Real Dinosaurs show.
Throughout the weekend, festivalgoers can come and try sailing with the Discover Sailing program at Eastern Beach or get a feel for sailing through the virtual reality experience, located in Fairnie Park.
MacGlide Festival of Sails Chairman Stuart Dickson said the festival offered something for everyone.
"With a myriad of experiences for the whole family to enjoy, both on and off the water, we are excited to see the community come down to the waterfront and settle in for the afternoon," he said.
Meanwhile, Aussie singer/songwriter Richard Clapton, INXSIVE the INXS Tribute Show and Geelong-raised singer Michael Stangel are just some of the acts set to entertain crowds in the Regatta Village, inside the Royal Geelong Yacht Club.
While Regatta Village performances are free, wristbands are required from 5pm. Tickets are limited and must be booked. Click here for more information.

The popular Australia Day fireworks display will light up the Geelong Waterfront from 9.10pm.
