The C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic and Regatta is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the 2019 Clagett Boat Grant Program. In 2019 two 2.4mR boats will be available as part of the Clagett Boat Grant Program and applications from either individual sailors or community sailing programs in North America will close on October 1, 2019.

"We are now in the fourth year of the Clagett Boat Grant Program and it was a wonderful sight at the recent Clagett Regatta in Newport to see five of the Boat Grant Program boats racing; four in the 2.4mR class and one in the Sonar class. Sailors have benefited from this program from across the U.S. and Canada and we look forward to granting two more boats to sailors who are eager to progress with their competitive sailing skills," commented Clagett President and Co-Founder Judy Clagett McLennan, (Portsmouth, R.I.).

At the recent Clagett Regatta in Newport, R.I., the positive results that this program has been the catalyst were very evident. Canadian sailor Siobhan MacDonald from Halifax, Nova Scotia, who was a 2018 Clagett Boat Grant Program recipient, said after the two days of coaching clinic and three days of racing, "My new boat is phenomenal and definitely affected my results. I feel like I am equipment equivalent to the rest of the fleet now, which is really tight. This is my fourth Clagett regatta and by far my best results."

Delani Hulme-Lawrence from St Paul, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, who received her 2.4mR in the 2017 round of the Clagett Boat Grant Program, was racing in Newport in June and went on to race at the Para World Sailing Championships in Spain. She remarked about being a recipient of the Program, "Through both the exceptional training opportunities and state of the art equipment, having the support of the Clagett has revolutionized my sailing. My progress and development has been accelerated by Clagett. My recent success can be largely attributed to the Clagett, as they are a vital piece of my success since receiving the boat grant." She continued, "The Clagett's support has changed my life! The support they have given me has been so helpful in getting my sailing to the next level."
