At 10.28pm Wild Oats X, skippered by Mark Richards and owned by the Oatley Family took their third line honours win in their RP66 over the 76 boat fleet.
"It was a very very pleasant race, and we are happy to finish at a social hour, it was quite a challenging race for us in the lead, we hit quite a few cloud banks, the conditions were amazing, we had a few close calls with some whales", said skipper Mark Richards.
Wild Oats X is a Reichel/Pugh designed 66ft canting keel yacht, built by McConaghy Boats in Mona Vale, in 2004. She finished second overall on IRC during the 2018 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, sailed by Stacey Jackson with our commentator for the live finish, Katie Spithill on tactics and the team of Ocean Respect Racing.
This win in the 34th edition of the race adds to a great track record with a second place in 2010 and line honours in both 2005 and 2007.
Check out the live coverage of the 34th edition finish with the Adventures of a Sailor Girl team below including interview with Mark Richards, commentated by Katie Spithill.
Second across the line was Naval Group, skippered by Sean Langman from Noakes Group, the naming rights sponsors of the race. They crossed the finish line at 11:19pm, in what can be described as perfect sailing conditions.
Crossing the line in fifth place and provisional overall winners is the TP52 Envy Scooters owned by Barry Cuneo the newly elected commodore of the RQYS. Barry credited his results to the amazing team he has on board, you can hear more in the interview dockside as the clubhouse leaders docked.
