XOD Wednesday Series at Royal Lymington Yacht Club - Race 9

There was a good 12-16knts easterly for the XODs on Wednesday. The start was between the committee boat and D as the outer end. It was a pretty even beat as the tidal advantage was cancelled out by the line bias, which made for an interesting split in the fleet.
The top six boats lead by 48 XL and 72 Venus were closely followed by 119 Lonestar, 140 Lucrezia, 34 Mersa and 183 Condor.
There were two passing marks before the leeward mark at C where positions changed all the way down the run. At the leeward mark 72 Venus was ahead of Condor 183 followed by XL, Lonestar, Mersa, and Lucrezia.
Thereafter it was a tacking duel to the finish with 72 Venus taking line honours with XL in second and just seconds between third to sixth, with Mersa pipping Condor closely followed by the Jardine twins on Lonestar and Lucrezia.
Many thanks need to go to the Lymington Town Sailing Club who very kindly lent the XOD sailors their facilities while the Royal Lymington enjoyed the Royal visit of Princess Anne to celebrate 35 years of Junior Sailing. Well done everyone involved in the Junior Sailing, where hundreds of children get their first taste of racing. No doubt some will be the XOD stars of the future.
