Downs Sailing Club hosted the fifth Traveller of the season. A good sunny day with the wind being a north easterly ranging between five & ten mph. There were thirteen competitors from all parts of the L&SE region.
As Downs is a coastal venue, the plan was to have four races back to back as launching and recovery takes up a lot of time.
Race one, the wind had moved from a northerly to a north easterly so the course had to be shortened and re-laid, the course was set as a trapezoid once again; Race one was won by Antonio Pascal (IBRSC) followed by Bjorn Handley (QMSC) and in third place Henry Cole (Southbank SC).
The weather remained static for the following three races, champagne conditions for sailing. James Crossley (Datchet SC) nailed the following three races coming first overall followed by Bjorn and Antonio, closely followed by Harry Newton, Henry Cole and Luka Franklin with only one point separating position three to six.
The Traveller was preceded by Open Training on the Saturday in which eight sailors enjoyed the coaching by Andy Kerr in challenging conditions.
