The RS Elites will be adding a new event to their calendar this year with an Eastern Area Championship held at the beginning of Burnham Week.

The event will be held over three days, starting on Friday August 23rd, the day before the official start of Burnham Week. This provides an opportunity to hold three races over windward-leeward courses on the first day. On Saturday August 24th and Sunday 25th, there will be two races per day held over Burnham Week courses, followed by a championship prizegiving dinner at the Royal Burnham Yacht club on the evening of the 25th.

The Eastern Area Championship will be the final championship event of 2019 in what is becoming an increasingly full racing calendar for the class. Notice of Race and entry details will be available soon on the RS Elite Class Association website so those wishing to take part can plan ahead now. There is plenty of accommodation in Burnham, but this is likely to fill up for Burnham Week. The boats will be placed on swinging moorings for the event with launching and recovery at the Rice and Cole boatyard.

The Burnham RS Elite fleet is one of the oldest in the UK and Elites have competed in Burnham Week in the past. The class is currently undergoing a resurgence in Burnham, so a good turnout of local boats is expected for the Eastern Area Championship. The event should also appeal to visitors from the South Coast.
