It was a huge day down here on Sunday with the lawns completely covered with boats and boards. We had around 50 craft of one sort or another out on the bay for morning training and 40 competing in the afternoon Gladiator Challenge.

By far the greatest challenge for all of the Gladiators was not the close quarters combat but rather the problem of remembering the course. A great many were so pre-occupied with the contest that they ended up chasing each other to buoys not mentioned at the briefing!!! Fortunately enough did sail the correct course and were amply rewarded for their efforts. Huge congrats to all of the winners.

We will reach the end of the season on Sunday and celebrate with our End of Season Party at around 1600. Everybody who has participated in both training or racing is welcome so hang around or come back to join in the celebration. The Canteen Crew will be putting on great munchies but feel free to bring a dessert to share with the gang.

Prize Night: this is the most action packed, activity crammed, fun filled prize night this side of Uzbekistan and one everybody should experience. It is a celebration of friendships, shared experiences, participation, personal growth and successes. This is a night for every DD member from every fleet, Opti Green to Finn, to come together and just enjoy! Tickets are available from Tracy at Reception but be warned, they will go quickly!!

Trophies: it is that time of the year to find all of the trophies that were won last year and return them to Goldy for redistribution at Prize Night. Please have a hunt, dust them off and bring them in.

Friday afternoon training: this will be the last Friday afternoon training session for this season but we will be back in action bigger and better than ever when the days get longer again!

Scholarship Optimist and Laser: applications are now open for the use of these 2 scholarship boats for this winter and the following summer season. Applications are invited from sailors who are regular participants in the DD training and racing program and are committed to continuing their skill development and participation. It is expected that these boats will compete in next season's State Championships. Applications close on April 30th and application forms are available from Goldy.

Winter Training Program: the program will be completed at tonight's DD Committee meeting and will be sent out on Thursday.
