US Sailing announces Youth Olympic Games Roster for Buenos Aires 2018

US Sailing has announced roster names and details for the 2018 U.S. Youth Olympic Sailing Team to compete at the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 on October 6-18, 2018.

Held every four years, 2018 will mark the third edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games, which are expected to include nearly 4,000 athletes from over 200 nations. The sailing events are expected to include over 100 athletes aged 15-18.

Roster to compete for the 2018 U.S. Youth Olympic Sailing Team at the Youth Olympic Games:

Windsurfing (Girls) – Techno 293 Plus: Dominique Stater (Miami, Fla.)

  • 2018 and 2017 US Sailing Youth Worlds Team
Windsurfing (Boys) – Techno 293 Plus: Manuel Nores (Miami Beach, Fla.)
  • 2018 and 2017 U.S. Youth Sailing Champions
Kitesurfing (Boys) – IKA Twin Tip Racing: Cameron Maramenides (Anna Maria, Fla.)
  • 2017 TT:R Youth Slalom World Champion
Two-Person Multihull (Mixed) – Nacra 15: Nicolas Martin (Houston, Texas) / AnaClare Sole (Houston, Texas)
  • 2018 US Sailing Youth Worlds Team
  • 2018 U.S. Youth Sailing Champions
"The 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires represent a very special and unique opportunity for our young and developing sailors in so many ways," said Leandro Spina, US Sailing Olympic Development Director. "These athletes have dedicated themselves to sport and their participation at an event like this rewards them for their training and overall efforts to become the best they can be. This team will learn more about the importance and significance of Olympic values, as they set sail for future goals and aspirations."

The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) determined that a maximum of five athletes, regardless of gender, will represent the United States at the Youth Olympic Games in the sport of Sailing.

US Sailing selected these athletes from a pool of eligible athletes through the use of a discretionary selection system based on recent racing results at key events. All athletes selected for the 2018 U.S. Youth Olympic Team are subject to USOC approval. These events include:

Place finish at the 2017/2018 North American and Caribbean Continental Qualification Tournaments Place finish at the 2017/2018 World Championships History of competitive performances within the last 12 months

Buenos Aires 2018 - Youth Olympic Games

The Youth Olympic Games are the world's largest multi-sport event for high-performance young athletes, that aim at inspiring athletes to embrace the Olympic values of RESPECT, FRIENDSHIP, AND EXCELLENCE. The event, promoted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), gathers young athletes aged between 15 and 18. It is held every four years; it has two editions, winter and summer, which are held every two years alternately. Off the sports field, athletes also participate with spectators in various educational and cultural activities that promote Olympism.
