Get out and sail: Your weekly crewing update from MySail

The Australian Women's Keelboat Regatta (AWKR) wrapped up on Monday after a fun and competitive weekend of sailing.

The majority of the regatta was light - so light, we were only able to get in 1 race on the first day and were lucky to see more than 3-4 knots at any time. Hughie did make an appearance at the end of the regatta, with winds strengthening from almost nothing to 20 knots of breeze during the last race.

MySail put together a team for the regatta, sailing on Elliot 9.6 Phantom. With almost no time to train together ahead of the regatta, we ended up a respectable 5th in division 1. Our main secret – good communication!

It was a fantastic event, and we're looking forward to attend again in 2019!

If you're looking for a chance to get out on the water, here are some of the latest crewing opportunities from around the country, available in MySail.

Available Crewing Positions:

Madman's Woodyard – Bellerive, Tasmania
Dubois Fractional Rig, 31.5 feet, BYC

Built in 1981, Madman's Woodyard has decades of racing pedigree. She has competed in at least 4 Sydney-Hobart races, losing her rudder after colliding with a sunfish in 1987, famously completing the other race in 1986 after losing her mast and making it to Hobart under jury rig.

The crew regularly takes Madman's Woodyard into short course, passage racing. If you enjoy racing with a competitive but social crew, then message the skipper now.

Reckless, Brighton Victoria
Dufour44 Performance, 13.4m, RBYC

Reckless is resuming racing after a year off.

They are looking for committed crew who will turn up more than not. Experience is great, but crew who can turn up on a consistent basis is more important.

Reckless already has a great bunch of people, but they always need more. They are very competitive and sail to win.

The boat is immaculate and is a treat to sail. It's very unique boat, and one thing they can promise is that you will have never sailed on a boat like Reckless! She is not for the faint hearted.

Misguided, Port Douglas, QLD
Elliot 7, 7m, PDYC

Misguided regularly competes in Club and Queensland regatta racing.

This photo was taken while sailing off beautiful Port Douglas where visitors and locals are always welcome to join us at the Port Douglas Yacht Club for a weekend race or Wednesday night sail.

If you are looking for a crew join to in Port Douglas, the crew of Misguided would be more than happy to see you onboard.
