Mat Belcher and Will Ryan have added another regatta win to their remarkable record, closing out the World Cup Series Final with authority overnight.
The multiple World Champions and Rio silver medalists in the 470 class took a lead into the Medal Race and drew on their great experience in shifting conditions to ensure overall victory and their fourth World Cup title.
"Today we just had to keep tabs on the guys in second and third," said Belcher, who won Olympic gold in 2012.
"We had seven points on second and a few more to the guys in third."
Belcher and Ryan's second place in the Medal Race placed them 15 net points ahead of the silver medallists from Spain.
The dynamic duo are maintaining the form that won them the 2017 World Championship. At the Palma regatta in April, they won the gold medal and were awarded the Princess Sofia Trophy, as the regatta's outstanding crew.
They are coached by legendary mentor Victor Kovalenko, one of the chief architects of the Australian Sailing Team's great success over the past decade.
