Team France Jeune scoops second Act win in Baie de Quiberon

Foiling superstars Team France Jeune were today crowned victorious in the second Act of the Flying Phantom Series in Baie de Quiberon, France.

Winning nine of 17 races, the French pair put their local knowledge to good use, having grown up sailing in the Bay and training at the ENVSN – the Act 2 Host Venue.

Up against a fleet of 10 other international teams, Team France Jeune delivered a masterclass of speed and boat handling, extending their overall lead by three points.

It wasn't all plain sailing though. Day one saw the local team stumble out of the starting blocks as light winds plagued the racecourse.

"The first races were difficult for us in light wind," explained helm Solune Robert. "We are definitely more comfortable in windier sessions with 10 to 14 knots. Conditions were really fun on the final day, it gave us a chance to be more technical."

Making the most of races that continued until sunset, fellow French sailors on board Idreva Zephyr Foiling and Culture Foil flew through the ranks, finishing second and third respectively; a patriotic podium at the ENVSN – the National School for Sailing and Watersports.

There's no rest for these speedy sailors though. The Flying Phantoms will descend upon Barcelona, Spain, in a matter of weeks, taking part in Act 3, Barcelona with the Extreme Sailing Series™ fleet of GC32s from 14-17 June. Can Team France Jeune beat the fleet once again? Follow on the Extreme Sailing Series Facebook and website to catch the action and find out.
