2018 J/24 North American Championship at Charleston Yacht Club - Day 2

by Christopher Howell 6 May 2018 08:12 BST

While three teams are tied on points for second through fourth place at the J/24 North American Championship, they are all looking up at Will Welles' Bogus who keeps a hold on the top spot with 13 net points in six races so far.

Bogus recorded a sixth in Saturday's opening race, but able to discard it and add a third in the day's only other contest, Welles leads the 35-boat fleet at Charleston Yacht Club. Mike Ingham's Nautalytics leapt up the leaderboard into the silver position, although he shares a tally of 20 points with Carter White's YouRegatta and John Mollicone's Helly Hansen.

Racing got underway at 1400 hours in winds of 6 knots, as Mark Laura's Baba Louie crossed the finish line ahead of James Howard's Classic and Travis Odenbach's HoneyBadger. Ingham made his move in the next battle, as the breeze increased to 10-12 knots. Following him were Mollicone and Welles.

Racing concludes Sunday.
