The France Open Skiff Regatta saw 44 competitors from six different countries race at Lac du Der.

The first day saw two races held with a wind blowing from 6 to 8 knots. There was a great performance from Musto Skiff sailor Pierre-Yves Pfirter who came second and third.

On the second day the wind was blowing from 8 to 20 knots and we managed four more races. The first race was held in the strongest wind of the day and we saw lots of boats capsize with some minor breakages for some boats.

The last day saw three races held with a raid from one of the islands of the lake. The condition were perfect with a wind blowing from 8 to 14 knots. The raid was still challenging because is was on the axis of the wind, resulting in lots of gybes ans tacks.

In the end nine races were held and the regatta was win by RS800 sailors Luke and Emma McEwen from Great Britain with the same points as second placed B14 sailors Alain and François Cadre. In third was another RS800, Gilles Peeters (Ex Musto Skiff Sailor) and Héloise Baize. The Musto Skiff sailors finished 7th (Pierre-Yves Pfirter SUI), 9th (Yoann Justeau FRA) and 13th (Jan Busch DEU). It was challenging with many boats at a similar speed (eight RS700s, ten RS800s and four B14s). We hope to see more Musto Skiffs next year.

A big thank you to Musto for the event prizes and competitor caps.
