IOCA UK is delighted to announce that registration is now open for the 2018 Volvo Gill Optimist British National and Open Championships.

This year's event takes place 4-10 August 2018 at Plas Heli, the Welsh National Sailing Academy and Pwllheli Sailing Club in Pwllheli, North Wales, with more than 250 competitors from across the world expected for the week-long festival of Optimist sailing.

Competitive main fleet racing will be managed by experienced PRO Ian Bullock, offering separate Junior and Senior Fleet racing. For beginners and those new to racing, different levels of Regatta Fleet racing will be offered, giving options for all sailors to take part. 2017 PRO Charlie Stowe will once again run the Regatta Fleet and ensure a fantastic week on the water.

Off the water, there will be a range of fun shore-based activities for the whole family to enjoy, along with daily sailor raffles and parties.

IOCA (International Optimist Class Association) UK is pleased to welcome back 2017 Nationals sponsors Jelly Belly UK and One Sails, who will join IOCA's class sponsors: Volvo, Gill, IBI Racing Dinghies, Noble Marine and Peter Newton. New sponsors for 2018 include P&B and HD Sails.

Matt Clark, Product Development Director from Gill, said: "We're proud to offer our continued support for IOCA UK and the British Nationals as part of our campaign to encourage junior sailing. We look forward to witnessing the next generation of sailors competing on the water in 2018."

Claire Mueller, IOCA UK Marketing Officer, said: "We had a wonderful 2017 Nationals with superb sailing and activities for all. It's fantastic to have our key sponsors back on board for another year, and we're so pleased to also be joined in 2018 by P&B and HD Sails, who are partnering with us for the first time."

IOCA UK Chair Sharon Davidson-Guild added: "This year's event promises to build on the success and excitement of 2017 and we look forward to welcoming our UK sailors and teams from across the world. Boat charters are available through our class sponsor IBI Racing Dinghies and P&B. Rydym yn edrych ymlaen at eich weld - we look forward to seeing you!
