What an amazing year it has been for the RS600 class! Our revival has been pretty well documented during the course of the last 18 months or so and we'd just like to send our thanks and festive wishes to all those that have supported us and made the whole thing possible.
With fantastic support from the RS Class Association we've been able to spread our message that "We're here and open for business", as 26 boats at the Allen Inlands at Grafham proved. Thanks to Allen Performance Sailboat Hardware for their early adoption of just what we were trying to do, which gave us confidence that we are treading the right path.
To all at the Boatyard at Beer for the continuing supply of parts, which are all available right now from the boatyard chandlery.
Hyde Sails were also massively supportive when we needed to design a new sail – which is also now available to purchase, again, from Boatyard at Beer.
To Andy Rice for writing a fantastic article about the boat earlier in the year and to all at Yachts & Yachting who have continued to help us broadcast our message.
Mostly, though, we'd like to thank the sailors themselves who grabbed their harnesses, hooked up the trailer and travelled far and wide through 2017 to show off our magnificent boat and just what it is. That makes the RS600 a very special craft indeed, so a huge thank-you to you all – we had a lot of fun along the way.
2018 is shaping up to be a classic, with a calendar of events that will once again take us all around the UK (which we will reveal very soon)– including the 'glamour' event of the RS games at the WPNSA for our biggest meeting of recent years.
This really is something of a golden age to become involved with the 600 and we'll be hosting our very own class stand at the RYA Dinghy Show in March to answer all of your questions and show off the boat, as well as introducing you to some of the sailors that give it a go. We're a very inclusive bunch of people and it would be great to see some ladies give the boat a go as well – it's not as unachievable as you think. Challenging? For sure, but with time on the water all of the swimming will soon translate into exhilarating sailing! Come and see us on Stand C35 in the Great Hall for a chat.
So, to all of our sailors and to all of the UK's dinghy sailors in all classes, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and here's to fair winds in the New Year!
