This event, the seventh in the Midland Area Enterprise Double Chine Series, was held on the River Trent at Nottingham Sailing Club on Sunday 25th September 2016. The five boat fleet included two visitors from Midland SC and Sutton SC. The conditions were dry and overcast with a moderate wind and some strong gusts.

In the first race Tim Coleman crewed by his daughter Emma Coleman (Nottingham SC) made the best start from the port end of line and lead up the first beat upstream followed by Paul Young crewed by Oliver Mason (Midland SC). Tim and Emma led around the windward mark and down the run, however by the leeward mark Paul and Oliver had caught them up. At the leeward mark a navigation error by Tim and Emma allowed Paul and Oliver to get an inside overlap and round first. On the second beat Paul and Oliver led Tim and Emma for a while until they made better use of the windshifts to take the lead again. Tim and Emma continue to lead for another two laps until the finish, despite a late challenge from Paul and Oliver on the final beat. Paul and Oliver crossed the finish line second with Mike Cossey crewed by Shad Jawad (Sutton / Nottingham) finishing third some distance behind.

After an excellent lunch of baked potato or chilli, the second race got underway. Tim and Emma were over the line and had to return. Paul and Oliver led the way up the first beat however they were soon caught by Tim and Emma who overtook them to take the lead. Mike and Shad also caught up with these three boats exchanging places briefly. Tim and Emma rounded the windward mark first with Paul and Oliver close behind. Tim and Emma held off several challenges from Paul and Oliver over the next few laps, but on the final beat Paul and Oliver made the best use of a windshift to snatch the lead, which they held to the finish. Tim and Emma were second and Mike and Shad third.

The third race with everything now to play for was sailed on a slightly different course with both sunshine and the strongest wind of the day. This time Mike and Shad made the best start and took the lead. Tim and Emma and Paul and Oliver soon caught up and places were exchanged several times. Mike and Shad led at the windward mark but Paul and Oliver took the lead on the run soon after. Tim and Emma were the first to gybe and gained an inside overlap on Mike and Shad to round the leeward mark in second place ahead of Mike and Shad but now hot on the heels Paul and Oliver. The next beat some some tight racing between Paul and Oliver and Tim and Emma with places changing often. Tim and Emma lead around the second windward mark first with Paul and Oliver still close behind. The following run also saw some very close racing with Paul and Oliver often not more than a couple of boat lengths behind. On the third beat Tim and Emma sailed tack for tack with Paul and Oliver to round the final windward mark some five boat lengths ahead of them. On the last run Paul and Oliver lost the wind briefly allowing Tim and Emma to open up a comfortable lead by the leeward mark. Paul and Oliver tried hard to catch up on the final beat but Tim and Emma held their nerve to win this race comfortably and take the meeting.

Winning helm Tim Coleman thanked everyone involved at Nottingham Sailing club for a good day's racing.
