Gul Falmouth Dinghy Week - Day 2
by Abbie Smith 19 Aug 2015 07:38 BST
17-22 August 2015
The second day started the way the first had finished, light variable winds from the south, well at least initially as during the first race the winds switched around to the north and then back again.
Whilst waiting for the second race of the day it was noticeable how a fun regatta like Falmouth week brings out the social aspect, the Optimists were chatting in one group, the Toppers in another, similarly the K1s, the D-Zeros and the Lasers. Guess there are some advantages to floating...
The second race also saw another wind shift with 8 to 12 knots coming from the west, still shifty but much more amenable to good racing. This race allowed more sensible racing as well as preparing the fleet for the stronger forecast on Wednesday.
Even with the variable conditions clear series leaders are starting to emerge. With three races and stronger winds tomorrow there is all to play for, especially for the serious amongst the group.
