Silver jubilee edition of DAME to provide maximum exposure for winners

DAME Design Award – the world's most prestigious design competition for new marine equipment and accessories – is now open for entries. This year marks the silver jubilee edition and will be especially beneficial for the nominees in terms of media publicity. The winners will be announced on the first day of the METSTRADE show, Tuesday 17 November. Exhibitors wishing to submit products for the DAME 2015 should complete the online application by Tuesday 22 September. All registration proceeds will be donated to the charity Sailability, which gives disabled people the chance to sail on specially adapted yachts.

As the organisers of the METSTRADE show, RAI Amsterdam invites exhibitors to enter their most innovative designs. These will be judged by an independent jury of international leisure marine industry experts from the fields of sailing, technology, industrial design and marketing. The DAME Awards have been a fixture for a quarter of a century, and are highly appreciated by the major players and brands throughout the global industry.

"There is no better way to share your innovation with the widest possible audience than to have it nominated for the DAME Awards," says RAI Amsterdam's maritime manager Irene Dros. "And with an even greater media spotlight on the awards during this special 25th anniversary edition, the winners are sure to raise their global profile to an unprecedented degree. We will also be looking back on the previous 24 winners of the DAME as we celebrate their role in the success of this award. An overview of the winners is already available on the show website."

Jefa Steering - winner in 2014

Armin Geisler, sales director at International Jefa Sales Office Holland, which represents the Danish company Jefa Steering, agrees. "We won the DAME 2014 for our streamlined traveller system for modern twin-wheel and twin-rudder sailing yachts. It gave Jefa Steering a major boost in terms of worldwide publicity." Geisler feels that the DAME Award has substantial added value for both individual exhibitors and the industry as a whole. "It encourages exchange and innovation and enables companies to stand out which have a brilliant new product without a marketing budget to match."
