The original two day meeting was shortened to a one day meeting because of exam schedules, even then the entry was reduced in size, a lot of people not attending because of studying.
Nine boats entered, and with conditions overcast, with initially a F3 offshore wind, conditions were ideal for racing. Three races were sailed, with wind conditions by the third race having got squally, causing some retirements. The best of these was a broken mast for Anne Jessop, who succeeded in finding the only shallow place in the North Sea in which to capsize.
Race 1
All competitors found the wind over tide conditions tricky, with the James Large getting a good start from Simon Barker. Thomas Dring pulled up several places during the race to finish third behind these two.
Race 2
The wind had shifted, making a start at the committee boat end a must, however boats arrived early, with James Large making a perfect start, but over the line. He carried on, not hearing his number being called out. David Jessop made the most of the conditions and finished first, Simon Barker finishing second with Tom Barker getting into third.
Race 3
Conditions for the third race were much harder, with both an increase in the wind strength and variable direction gusts. There were several retirements, especially some of the younger crews, for whom the conditions were too much. David Jessop led throughout, revelling in the conditions, with James Large and Simon Barker following him home.
