Henri Lloyd Falmouth Week

by Steve Nicholls 20 Aug 2010 11:00 BST 7-15 August 2010

There was a real buzz amongst competitors as they awaited the overall results for Henri Lloyd Falmouth Regatta Week 2010. In a packed marquee at the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club Steve Nicholls the PoFSA Chairman announced the winners of each class to very generous applause by all the competitors. The awards were presented by Sally Collett.

Steve Nicholls started the evening by thanking all the volunteers who had helped make the racing week run so smoothly, he also thanked Dave Nichol (RNLI) and Joke Snel(Visit Cornwall) for “going the extra mile” to make FUN NIGHT and PARADE OF SAIL a success.

The Top Yacht Bay award went to “Excellence” (John Pollard) a crack racing yacht from Torbay who had won every race in their fleet. The local crews were appreciative of having a chance to compete with such a high class racing visitor. Before leaving for Torbay John Pollard said “We have really enjoyed the week, great racing and great venues.”

The Top Yacht Carrick award went to “Athena” an Ajax sailed by David Liddington, who had sailed consistently all week in a large fleet of Ajax Yachts based in St Mawes. Linsey Thomas the Ajax Class Captain was thrilled with this news and thanked the race officers for such good racing all week.

Finally Peter Collett, Commodore of the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club, thanked Steve Nicholls and his team for all their hard work to make the week so successful to cheers throughout the marquee.
