Barcelona Olympic Classes Sailing Week Update

Strong weather conditions

Due to the strong winds from the east that reached the 22 knots and even 26 knots, some of the races have not been possible today. Classes Tornado and Laser had only one race each, Mistral had two so far and class 470 races are being sailed as we issue this press release.

Tornado

    At the Tornado class, the first one today, the winners are the French pair made by Jean Christophe Mourniac/Philippe Mourniac who so far have a score of 18 points and were already in the first place of the general classification.

    The Spanish Fernando Leon/Pepote Ballester, have finished in the third place today which allows them to stay in the second place at the general classification with a score 23 points. Thanks to the results accomplished today, the Spanish increase the distance with the French Pierre Pennec/Yan Gichard who have finished today in the fifth place.

Laser

    Laser has also had one only race. The winner is the Spanish Luis Martinez (26 points so far), followed by the Portuguese Gustavo Lima (14 points) who now occupies the first place in the general classification. Also, the second place in the general classification is for the Argentinean Lucas Gonzalez (16 points) who has finished today¹s race in the fourth place. The third place has been for the also Argentinean Sebastian Mazza (16 points) who has ended in the ninth place.

Mistral

    Mistral has had two races today. The Spanish Jorge Maciel is the leader in the general classification after ending both races in the second place. The also Spanish Ivan Pastor (13 points) who was until yesterday in the very first place, has gone down one place since he has finished third today. Curro Manchon has won today¹s races and he¹s now the third one in the general classification with a total of 18 points.

    After today¹s races, the general classification remains the same in the following categories: 49er, Europe Women, Europe men, Laser radial, and 420.

49er

    Santiago Lopez/Javier de la Plaza from Spain are still in the first place with a score of 12 points. After them, the French Dimitri Dervelle/P. Gasparini (16 points) and the Spanish Iker Martinez/ X. Fernandez (18 points).

Europe Women

    Europe Women has had so far 6 races sailed and the first one in this category is the German Petra Niemann with 9 points, followed by the Spanish Helen Montilla (10 points) and Neus Garriga (12 points).

Europe Men

    Also, 6 races so far. The Catalan Pau Balaguer is in the first place with a total of 5 points, followed by Bartolome Mari (11 points) and Gerard Marin (19 points).

Laser radial

    After 6 races, the first place is for Vicenç Mari, followed by Alvaro Gil de Bernabe (8 points) and Pau Von Rathlef (17 points).

420

    At 420 (also, 6 races so far), the pair Javier Torres/J. Armeñazas (6 points) are the first one in the general classification, followed by the Balearic Matias Bonet/R. Lobo (10 points) and Teo Matheu/I. Binimelis (19 points).
