When looking at the contract proposed by my dealer I read about one down payment when ordering of roughly 20%. The rest is due to be paid 10 days prior to delivery from the yard. This is apparently the normal setup when buying a Hanse. I can maybe live with risking the 20% or consider asking for a bond.

My concern is however if ordering now I will have to pay the boat fully in January and leave it with Hanse in Greifswald over the winter for final delivery and commissioning during spring 2013. An option would be to include transportation but I was looking forward to sailing it home to Sweden and while doing that also saving some money.

Bonds will not help me after taking delivery. I will take delivery even though the boat is not commissioned and stored outside at the yard.

What can be done to minimize risk here???
