As far as I understand it, the BBC will be broadcasting pretty much every race- via one of BBC Olympics 1-24 for anyone on Sky or Virgin, and the internet for everyone (UK only). It won't always have commentary however.

Also, at work, it's pretty hard to surreptiously watch video streams. This is why "live text" commentary has become quite popular with many sports- the Guardian being a leading outlet with generally  entertaining coverage of football, cricket, cycling etc. But I doubt they'll be doing the sailing events. Does anyone know of anyone that will be, be it a website or on on twitter?

On twitter I am currently following Stephen Park (RYA Olympic Manager) @Sparky_rya

He was recommended ages ago and does post some good updates. I'm not sure how good his tweets will be during the races though.

I also follow a few competitors, but I gather they will be a bit busy during the race. Good for post race reaction though

I follow a football and rugby team and they have dedicated tweeters - basically just a media grad with an ipad. There must be something similar for the sailing, but I don't know who it is

I have been looking at the schedules to see what is on Freeview but didnt find anything. Are these 24 BBC channels on sky available to those on freesat?

Should be on Freesat as well (look for Channels "BBC Olympics 1-24") For those of us on Freeview, it'll be the main programmes on BBC 1 and BBC3 plus two "red button" channels.

The freesat channels should all be there ready to go. I don't think the program of what is on what of these channels when is anywhere yet.

Note that if you have a Humax freesat PVR  (like I do) you won't be able to record any of these channels Grrrrrrrrrr.

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

Hopefully everything from every channel will be available on catch-up; not sure for how long after though?

retune your freesat box/telly and go to the guide, should be 3rd option down called "bbc olympics" or similar, channels 150 onwards.

on sky try channels 450 onwards

This is exactly what we're doing at http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/london2012/ - www.yachtsandyachting.com/london2012

The updates will be from around 8 UK and US journalists (we're doing this in collaboration with Sailing World magazine in the US) on the water at Weymouth with selected reader comments throughout all the racing. Smile

What's stopping recording on hummy freesat? Can sky and virgin record? Just got a Hummy freesat to see extra channels and assumed they would be recordable?Angry

Also any idea if there is going to be live gps tracking of races and where?

Q. Recording the Olympics on a Humax freesat+ box
A. We’re sorry to say that there’s a technical bug which prevents recording the 24 BBC Olympics channels on Humax freesat+ boxes. We’ve been working urgently with Humax to find a fix since the channels went live, but regretfully Humax can’t resolve it for the Olympics.

Viewers using Humax freesat+ boxes will still be able to enjoy the 24 Olympic channels live, and full recording as usual of the BBC’s standard channels (e.g. BBC One, BBC One HD,  BBC Three, etc.) which will be broadcasting all the must-see events every day throughout the Games.

No other freesat+ boxes are affected and will be able to record the 24 BBC Olympic channels as expected.

Getting the 24 BBC Olympics channels and Red Button app working on all Freesat boxes and TVs, both HD and SD, has been quite a feat of engineering and we really hope this doesn’t stop you all enjoying the London 2012.

Wonderful that's straight out of "2012"except it's not very funny. What the point of a PVR that can't? Come on Humax and sort it or I'm sending mine back. Unless someone has a clever workaround?

Anyway anyone got news of live GPS tracking fromthe racetrack?
