The images of the psychedelic Mary Poppins word down the side of the Olympic Winning Flying Dutchman was indelibly etched on my young mind.  So at the dinghy show I spent some time in wonder at the 20ft fully restored craft.  It is even in colour now!

But what gives?  - the word has changed to supercalifragilisticexpialidoso

Any one know what Superdoso refers to?  It cant be wrong since the resto was informed by the man himself so whats the story?

Here is a picture to prove there is no LSD involved.

IIRC at least some of Pattison's many FDs had variations on the name. I remember the word/name/whatever Superdoso from back in the day...

Rodders' Super'docious was FD K163, Superdoso was FD K263

Different boats.

I went to the 1969 London Boat Show as a wee lad and saw Super'docious on the RYA stand with their 2 gold medals pinned to the main sail.

Security? Who needs it!

K350, another of his FD, was also 'docious as shown here at CVRDA Roadford 2009 http://cvrda.org/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=47&pos=58 - http://cvrda.org/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=47&pos=58

Interesting. I wonder what other variations there were.  I guess each has its story.
