Well i feel that any good party should go on to at least the following lunch time if not later... during sailing events you kinda have to sail the next morning so that hinders the partying somewhat.

rugby players however usually dont have 2 days of games (well the rugby players i know never had, appart from on tour) so i would say rugby players have the scope to party proper more.

I know the rugby players i know however usually fall over an sleep before me whilst partying so i would say that sailors party better.

also sailing goes better with a hangover than getting tackled by a 20st monster i would imagine!

Not long before the weekend festivities start... why does that last hour always go the slowest of the whole week????

At a Finn dinner near Rutland a couple of years ago the owners of the restaurant asked what rugby club we were from.  I don't think they realised how much sailors can drink.  Or how loud some can get.

as drinking goes i think the iso fleet are champions. at every event this year except maybe 1 or 2 they have managed to drink the bar out of beer! and sometimes spirits too although attendance to the following days racing is often somewhat limeted!!

We could certainly organise a Y&Y forum party Sat night - just need to identify a suitable local hostelry!

Fair point Hurricane, England r no longer the best in the world, but u never know what could happen, how many times have England bin tipped for the Grand Slam and failed, who knows, maybe the year no1 gives them a chance they'll do it! (heres hoping Matthew Tait turns out to be the next big thing)

Its the same in mine. A lot of people play rugby in the winter when the cruisers are pulled into the compound.

What is a hooker? I know some things about rugby but not what a hooker is.

A Hooker is the guy in the middle of the scrum its his job to hook the ball back in the scrums. He also throws the ball into the line outs. Hookers wear the number 2 shirt. If you are watching england play (if thats what its called) steve tompson is their hooker!

In Steve Thompsons case he sort of throws the ball in the general direction of the lineout and hopes somebody catches it.
