Alinghi's primary sponsor, the Swiss bank UBS, has had to write-off an extra $20 Billion today as a result of the sub-prime credit crunch.  See BBC item http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7323809.stm - here .  This is in addition to the $18 billion it had already written off.  I have heard, from a very good source, that as a result Alinghi is unable to host the next America's Cup and has withdrawn from it court case with the Golden Gate Yacht Club (Team Oracle).  There is no America's Cup!

Luckily Alinghi have been bought and are now sponsored by McLaren! Team McLaren will represent the SNG, the Cup is back on.

The top story on http://www.sailinganarchy.com - www.sailinganarchy.com the only place to go for news as it happens.

Blast!  For one second I dreamt of an end to the d!ck waving contest formerly known as the America's Cup .

SA's blocked from my work PC so, of course, I'll just have to take your word for it.
