Has anyone on here had direct experience of travelling into Europe in the last 12 months?

Towing a dinghy or 3 and the paperwork required to enable a smooth journey...?

Can you take a friends boat over if they aren't in the same car?

Anyone?

Have a look at thread under 'dinghy yarns' "Post Brexit towing in the EU".

It seems that thread was largely hijacked with discussion on trailer law rather than the means to get into and out of the UK and Europe and paperwork required.

I suspect we are still in the same position of not really having a definative answer...

Been twice with two boats behind a Motorhome.

Only issue - having the cocoon covered boat on the top and struggling to open it for Gendarmes inspection for illegal immigrants.

On the return on the second trip was by myself with two boats…..no interest shown.

I did take proof of VAT paid.

I think the problems might  arise for those who are  active on the circuits and  especially if it was in some whay known that there  were engaged in the marine  business as some or all of their job ..

when oyu have someone who  is  known to work in the rade and is back and forth with  boat or boats ,  bags and bags of  sails  anda  fairly full  bits box  potentially with retail fresh fittings still on  their bags / boxes
every  couple of weeks ...
