Has there been a move to get hold of single handers to sail now that most double handers cannot even get on the water ?

I guess a few lucky people can sail with families but Ive not seen any double handers on the water yet ?

I never knew Rush were Canadian! Wondering whether Shania Twain and Celine Dion are teaming up in a 470.

You can sail many double handers solo in the light stuff, no need to buy a singlehander but of you must there are lots of cheap Lasers about.

As a double handed boat owner, one of the main issues would moving the boat around off the water and getting it up and down our slipway without assistance.

I guess Clubs will also have to think very carefully about the use of rental boats and the potential for spreading infection.

My club are not allowing use of club boats for that reason not, for the moment, of any indoor spaces, including the loos.

Surprised about the loos? If we open we were thinking one in one out iro facilities with appropriate disinfecting. "Wild wees" on a water supply reservoir site, which is adjacent to river and SSSI would not go down well, methinks.

We aren't a reservoir but I think the same would apply here (though geese crap in the lake all the time.......).

Lol wild wees. I’ve been doing that for years at the club . I do always make sure I wave at Severn Trent CCTV when I am doing it though lol . Seriously though couldn’t we just hire portable loos ?
TBH that’s the least of our problems , it’s much more important that we manage to sort out how we manage launching and retrieving at the slip way and how we manage doing rescue duty.
In my view, we will have to do same household rescue crew to start with 😀

Have seen plenty of double handers out at our lake either with families or just singlehanded but we are blessed with a gently sloping "beach" which makes recovery easy. Our club has also made the Club owned Lasers available to members free of charge so people who cannot sail have an option if they so wish. There is a 72 hour mandatory wait between users to stop C19 spread.

H2 glad your club is finding ways to manage the situation and restart sailing. A few people I know though the British moth class have recently joined your club and they have all said good things about it . My wife and I were really looking forward to sailing there at our nationals in early August, don’t think there is much chance of that happening now . Unhappy

Thanks! Yes I know at least one of the people you are talking about, he has become a bit of a mate. We have a contingency plan to see if we can get the BM Nationals later in the year by combining with another event but of course that still requires us to be able to put organised racing on which I suspect is still a while away depending on how the Government advice continues to unfold. Fingers crossed we have some god news for you soon!

Thanks for trying however it turns out.
TBH I will surprised if anyone gets their nationals completed this year. At my club we are not even back pleasure sailing . We have to have a rescue boat on the water to do any sailing , so we are still working on measures we can put in place to in able us to do this .
