Hi all,

Our club may run spinnaker handling as part of our Junior sailing courses this year.

420s would be my default choice, however as the other boats being used will be Fevas, are there any appropriate choices for less than £500 I can get with a chute?

This purchase would become part of the club fleet for the next few years which rules out wooden boats such as the Mirror.

We already have an L2, but most find the long pole and small chute to be a problem.

Thanks

Riv

If the pole on the L2 is such an issue couldn't you just get a shorter one for your training?

I thought you needed the pole length that the spinnaker ws designed for?

Larks' a good idea, loads lying around.

I doubt the last tenth of a knot will be that crucial for training. You can always borrow a pole to try it. The L2 kite configuration is basically better than just about any other one design, but if detuning it a bit suits your needs why not?

L2 Spinnaker has long luff/leach. We have shorter poles. Would Merlin spinnaker work on a shorter pole for the L2?

Or you could just angle the pole down a bit so the tack is lower...

GP14 there are glass ones of those about. Wayfarer then you could teach 2 or 3 at one go.
