Looks like the family has decided to opt for a week at Lake Garda in early August this year. Probably aiming for the base at Europa Sailing which seems to have a selection of Topper products, Cats and some foiling toys.

Whats Garda like as a venue - never sailed there before!?

Busy. The road from Peschiera to Riva del Garda is busy. The Southern end busy with lots of power boats, not all of the helms know what they are doing....don't suppose you'll use that bit of the lake though. Top end where most of the sailing happens is quite busy with ferries, and anything that can be sailed. There were some folk jumping off monte baldo in flying suits on one occassion, parachuting onto a raft in the lake at Malcesine.......so traffic in all directions. lol

Wind blows from the north in the morning then a lull, blows from the south P.M........fairly regular but don't plan to sail anything during the lull unless you want to use the time for eating sandwiches in your boat.

Check your boat thoroughly if you're hiring. We hired a Soling, lovely boat except that the adjustable slider for the shrouds didn't have end stoppers and it slid out. Fortunately it was on the lee side and we re-inserted it. Maintenance isn't all it could be with some hire places.

Beautiful place.......did I mention it was busy

Can be busy but plenty of choice. Depends on where you are staying,Torbole has a Laser school and hire centre at the sailing club, I think that also have foiling available from there.
Europa is run by Brits Charles and Alison out to Fraglia vela Malceine wind is a bit lighter at Malcesine compared to Torbole and Riva . Also some good bike trails if you are into that stuff.
Plenty of choice for food and drinks
