Sail No1 is most likely No1 of some club or organisation's training boats, or just somebody needing a number on their sail but not willing to spend 12 x £1.80 for the hull number. Or a secondhand sail with most of the digits torn off. I was under the impression that LP carried on numbering their Lasers with the same 2XXXXX series they were using when their boats were carrying WS plaques. Also, am I right in thinking the very first Laser was 001, followed by 010? Probably for the best that they gave up binary. Wonder if my number looks better in hex?

Quite difficult to work out which is a replica … which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Does this mean we could end up with two hulls with the same number? One issued by ILCA, the other by LP.

Yes, already been spotted, not sure what would happen in a race, mind I have seen same number on different classes.

It wouldn't be the first time: its happened when classes have split. However in this case they wouldn't have the same sail logo so it shouldn't be an issue. Edited by JimC - 13 May 22 at 12:53pm |
