Hi

I have a byte CII that I haven't used in a while and after a long time sat on its trailer looks like its settled and taken damage. Its formed a crack that's gone right through the GRP just under the gunwhale and the surrounding GRP is now soft IE it gives when you apply pressure.

Has anyone seen similar damage and it been repaired or is it really bad news?

Thanks

I would remove gelcoat from area and re-lay new fibre glass matting, then fair out to existing hull using gel coat or body filler (depending on age of boat).

first course of action

get it  'indoors' and dry  (  ideally  somewhere  warm- ish   and dry  - doesn;t have to be room temp and bone dry  but obviously  that is going to be better  )  but  gettign it  somewhere  dry  is a start

remove  any loose  gelcoat / explore  around the crack  to see if  there is delamination and /or the gelcost seperating - if  so  you need to get that off  to help dry out the underlying laminate
