Spinnaker .... eeeerr extra string .... don't do extra string.
However please. I beg of you, don't launch the modified boat until you fully understand what it is all about ...... us iCONoclasts don't take kindly to people thowing mud in our ponds. However after sailing one of these (albet b***tardardised fine vessels) the class can only benefit from your superior knowledge, intellect and input ......... can't wait - or rather more likely can't weight to see how many KG's you add to this new project

It's a boat ffs what's not to know? You get in it, hang bits of cloth from the mast, wiggle that stick at the back, shout at people to get out of the way.. The one with the most bits of cloth goes fastest and wins... That boat you have doesn't have enough cloth - just add some more - simples What have I missed? |

It would have to be launched/recovered off the boom, I've thought about it lots, I guess anythings possible, some sort of pump system at the boom, routed down the mast. we fitted shrouds once and I dabbled with topping lifts, so we could get it hoisted, it's just the number of hands required to sheet it in, given the necessity for both hands on the boom and when it launches the massive transfer in centre of effort, unlikely you could get it to do anything other than terminally bear off. I guess you'd have to sheet it off the back of the boom, maybe a screecher type thing could be made to work, gybing would be interesting... Then what would happen if you dropped the rig.. |

of course it can be done.... 1) use a symmetric spinnaker with an inflatable luff tube 2) use very long sheets 3) dump the mast, UJ, boom, mainsail, centreboard in the trash on your way to the beach 4) put your shorts on over your wetsuit 5) sign up for Grindr and arrange your open meetings in beach side toilets 6) get those blazer wearing noddies at ISAF to think you're kewell and the future of sailing Edited by yellowwelly - 04 Jun 13 at 4:34pm |

That's quite true... there are lots of things I hadn't heard until I met you old chum.
And by the way, I asked the physio about that 'Nuru Massage' you recommended for a twisted ankle caused by catapulting with my feet in the board straps... he gave me a very funny look and said I need to find another practitioner.
