Its not broken so don't fix it, last weekend seemed to be at a perfect venue, we had a good time so stay with it?

I think you are missing the point that if the venue was better more of us would come, as a venue it was highly suited to slow boats which does not wholly represent the users of this forum

But the forum, much like the nationals attendance tables doesn't have a massive fast boat contingent. I would say the 400/D1 is as fast as i would want to go at Broxborne. Although it would be fun watching a Musto get round. But then again there are not many Active forum users who sail faster boats.

My thinking is that if we have big open waters and huge courses we can forget the fun element. There's loads of serious racing, both class and handicap, with potential for huge separation. If that's what the majority want..................................................

Note from Simon at Broxbourne SC:-
'Yes we could certainly arrange for the bar
to remain open longer, I think it was still open at 2 am the night of our
regatta in September, good thing we don't have too many neighbours to upset.' Now I am not suggesting that we ask for a 2 am bar extension but they can arrange to close later next time. I guess i didn't make it clear what a load of boozers you are - sorry |

I still maintain we have a good venue and there seems a lack of a specific rival that is faultless (weed, poor bar hours, one day only, miserable members, etc.). I also like the idea of it being in the south after all what goes on tour stays on tour, sorry wrong sport
It should be noted my Yorkshire blood is a bit dilute, half American, a bit Scottish, the rest from Bradford!

I don't think Burghfield is an option (for next year anyway) as they are resistant to 2 day events.
Very true .... and I'm not sure I'd want the locals to experience too many of our 'new best friends' just yet either ! We are tolerated ourselves at BSC .. just ... but we do have to keep the 'dancing farmer' on a tight leash, he might just say what he really thinks one day (oh I forgot he sometimes has .. but not in relevent earshot thankfully ! ) So about Northampton ? and if you like fluky/small (and next to good watering hole across lane as well as club bar) could even Frensham be an ideal alternative ? Somewhere in the middle maybe around Draycote if not Draycote ? Mike L. |

I'd be asking Bartley if i was in charge. They are desperate to get back on the racing scene and raise their profile as a venue. Blithfield are full for next year, but may be open to a future enquiry.
Chase might be worth an ask too, having been out of comission for so long again they'd want to raise their profile.

Agree on on the tighter courses and smaller type venue - also agree on more centrally located might get more support.
What about Barnt Green, it's small, friendly and they even sail single handed wardrobes (aka Solos), its a bit more central, but not sure about the language barrier?
But hey I couldn't make this one so maybe original IS best.
