Sorry Russ- average lap squares, and a pursuit on Sunday. AFAIK there is not a w/l course option.

When is the Dash? Looking pretty busy over the next few months, so i need to book my diary. Any idea of the courses they are running this year?

Hi Maxi
Yes - pity about the wind ... Icon is nearly Phantom pace in lets just say in classical 'Phantom conditions' as at Broxbourne but is a tad faster when we get breeze. We never got out of 'third gear' really but it was good practice as we were without an Icon for a while (boat on loan) and prior to that 'Dancing farmer' was doing what farmers do in the Summer ('arvesting etc) and I was back in the Blaze. Anyway all that b*****y manoevering every 50 metres shook the rust spots off and I think our 'away match' for Icon is the Draycote Dash with a bit of of club practice in between. Might even tempt Rodney out in his Icon if he finds a crew conscript or volunteer and there was a threat that Roman from Devoti might even come over to chance his arm ... we'll see. So how many forumites are off to the 'Dash' then ... we know a great curry house near to the club since we all love each other so much now. Mike L. PS - Greame .. if you are coming to the Dash make sure you bring the gaffer tape or lash out and get a new wetsuit ! |

I think that phantom loads are higher than the icon but it has been done before but does need the sheets run to the back of the boat like have on the blaze and icon. I personally can't be bothered and quite like it to the middle. Thankyou and your crew for the swop too been wanting to have a go in the icon for a while shame there wasn't much wind.

Hi Maxi
Thanks for the swop - I really would set up a Phantom with 'off the boom' sheeting if you want to try something new - makes life so much easier when you get used to it and we think it is potentially faster. We do it as a default on both Icon and Blaze now but these classes are allowed with almost any sheeting system to suit all tastes. Mike L. (Blaze720) |
