Thanks once again for everyones help. I have spoken to my uncle and have found out some bits.
Absolutely everything is XD apart from the kicker, which I will either upgrade or do a DIY job on. Also, I have a feeling that the tiller is wooden - Does that make a huge difference or should I get a new one? As for having a clean hull, my uncle knows someone who works/ed for TVR doing bodywork and he came and professionally cleaned and polished the hull - Looks good as new! Go for the Harken kicker if you can - leagues better than the Holt.
The reason laser tillers are so over the top is that you need the traveller line to be as tight as possible, but the block needs to cross the tiller rather than get stuck - hence the low profile jobs. So yes, a decent tiller is actually pretty important if you want to be competitive. Good to have a shiny hull. Look after it by taping a sponge to a stick and ensuring the mast tube is dry after each sail. And watch out for the aluminium dust stained water than always seems to run out of the lower mast and stains the deck. Enjoy |

Is the Harken kicker really that much better than the Holt? I thought there was always a price difference because of the name! Maybe I shall have to start saving my pennies wisely. Thanks for the advice.
