Whilst we're mentioning booking sites, for stuff other than Olympic tickets, don't use thetrainline.com, use a site belonging to an operator instead- that way you'll avoid booking fees and often postage fees. If you use the main operator you'll travel with (for instance, South West Trains) you'll also often find they have special promotions (for instance, East Coast give a 10% discount on even the cheap fares through their site for their trains). (yes, I use trains a lot...) |

Yes, but not for August 2012. These tickets are for the Olympic venue for those with tickets; thetrainline can only book a couple of months ahead. I have been talking with the national rail people, and there does seem to be a problem, which they're addressing now.

Has anyone else tried to look at booking rail travel to Weymouth for August 6th 2012? I've tried on the official site ( http://www.nationalrailgamestravel.co.uk ), and the earliest train for which I can book a valid ticket starts at Reading at 0930 (i.e. the Peak Travel time). It gets in to Weymouth after midday, after the scheduled start-time. Seems you can only book an Olympic ticket for off-peak travel.
Any ideas? |
